Christian Nation?

We are not a theocracy. Even Washington himself made that clear in The Treaty of Tripoli, something I struggled for years to understand when I discovered it.

Yes, our basic laws regarding murder, theft, rape, incest, property crimes, and other crimes were taken from the Torah… but the only legitimate function of government in America is to secure our rights; not impose a religious code on the people.

Your rights end where mine begin and my rights end where yours begin. If your actions don’t harm me, I have no right to interfere with you nor does government on my behalf.

That isn’t something I dreamed up but was declared openly in our Declaration of Independence, second paragraph. THAT one principle made us special as a nation and unique in history.

About Thomas Mick

My life has been anything but normal in my years upon this earth. I have been all over the American Republic, seen and experienced the different cultures and people that make up this wonderful land as a youth. Now that my family is grown I am back on the road revisiting it anew with a more mature outlook tempered with the wisdom that comes from experience. I am an American, my passion is America, and my life is devoted to restoring American liberty.
